The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that this assessment is undertaken by a "competent person". The term competent person is not defined, but this is because the level of competency and experience required will vary dramatically between premises, dependent on the risks.
You must keep a written record of your fire risk assessment if your business has 5 or more people. But even if your business has less than five employees don't forget that if something does go wrong, it may be difficult to prove that you have done the assessment if it is not in writing.
As chartered health and safety consultants we provide businesses who do not have the resources to appoint in-house health and safety professionals with a cost effective competent person service so that you are able to meet this important legal and moral obligation.
For only £1.37 per day, you may formally appoint Diligentia Safety Ltd as your "Competent Person" you will have a nominated Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner to provide you with email or telephone support and advice.
